With a bachelor degree in JOURNALISM AND COMMUNICATIONS, and a EXCELLENCE silver medal from Universidad del Norte in Barranquilla, Colombia, Kika Pérez lands to Miami in 2001 with a plan. After attending the CREATIVE WORKSHOPS ACTING SCHOOL, where artists like Sofia Vergara and Gloria Estefan got their training, she appeared in Univision’s Telenovelas GATA SALVAJE and SECRETO DE AMOR. Soon after, Kika participates in a series of independent films including LATIN KINGZ and BIRTHRIGHT.
In 2002, she was chosen as one of the hosts of NBC/TELEMUNDO’S new bilingual cable network, Mun2, to co host CHAT: a breakthrough and acclaimed interactive talk show platform that targeted young U.S. Hispanics. FULL ACCESS and THE ROOF were some of the other Mun2 projects she hosted.
Kika later joins the cast of ESTADOS, as Gabriella. This Spanish language feature, directed and produced by Pablo Alsina and Max Vera, was honored as BEST FOREIGN FILM in the MADE IN MIAMI Film Festival in 2003.
Later that year she becomes the host of Telemundo Network’s RITMO Y SABOR, a spicy and humorous music variety show, which covered the beginnings of Reggaeton in America. Other appearances include TU DESAYUNO ALEGRE (Univision) as a guest host, and BATANGA MAGAZINE/BATANGA.COM, as writer and on-air reporter.
Pérez moves to Los Angeles in 2007 where she explores the performer market as a modern bicultural, non-traditional looking latina. EL SANCOCHO, a humourous online chronicle where she tackled Pop-Culture Politics in two languages, becomes her daily venting pad. That led her to become a contributor for renowned publications like DAILY CENTS and LOSSIP.COM.
Kika then becomes a guest host on Univision’s A TU ESTILO as she stars in two independent films, TALES FROM THE OTHER SIDE: THE ASYLUM by and VLAD AND ANTOINETTE, both shot in L.A. in 2008.
ONE IN THE GUN is the film by award winning, writer-director Rolfe Kanefsky (Nightmare Man, Blonde and Blonder), where Kika Pérez plays the delightfully insane LIZZIE DARK, alongside a stellar ensemble, including SCARFACE’S Steven Bauer, Steven Man, Robert Davi and James Russo, to name a few.
Restless to conquer other markets, Kika Pérez flies back to Colombia but this time she lands in Bogotá to play the funny and irreverent ZAFIRO on Latin Nickelodeon’s hit show ISA TK+, alongside A-list performers from all over the Spanish-speaking world.
While in Bogotá, Kika noticed an absence of the vintage trading store concepts she had fallen in love with when living in California, and decided to launch her own vintage trading store, BOGOTÁ VINTAGE. Still in Colombia, Kika also appeared on several episodes of the Colombian Hit Comedy Show TAMBIÉN CAERÁS produced by Caracol Television.
Back in Miami by 2013, she does a little bit more hosting for the Latin variety show AGÁRRESE QUIEN PUEDA, (AMÉRICA TEVE) and a little bit more acting on Telemundo’s DUEÑOS DEL PARAÍSO and EVA LA TRAILERA. She also made you laugh watching her perform in funny TV commercials and hosting a different variety of special events.
Become home is where the heart is, Kika has been slowly traveling back to her Journalism and Communication roots, creating relevant stories and compelling content for Literary, News, Marketing and Behavioral fields.
She has recently rebranded her bilingual expression, writing, and development talents on publications of the likes of entertainment and fitness magazines, global corporate clients and other multi-platform outlets.
After getting certified as an International Life Coach by Madrid’s AICP Institute, she has bundled her magic to offer decades-long media experience and tools, crafting a post-modern version of herself for the creative world.
Communication and life dynamics coaching is what she calls her most recent endeavor as she continues to evolve within her comedic commentary, as well as partnering up with edgy brands to keep injecting her passionate, colorful, authentic view of life into everything she tackles.
